Journey to Amsterdam
In the winter of 2022, I planned a Christmas trip to Paris with my mom. Since I’d already been to Paris a few times by that point, I booked my flight a few days before her arrival, giving myself a window to explore another European city. That’s when Amsterdam came to mind.
The idea had been lingering since that summer, when my roommate, who spent a year in Amsterdam on an exchange program raved about her time there. She spoke so highly of the city that I promised myself I’d visit one day. So when my flight landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, it felt like the perfect opportunity, all I needed was to figure out the best way to get there.
After researching travel options (something I love to do), I discovered the Thalys Train, a high-speed rail service connecting cities like Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, and Amsterdam. So, I managed to find a train ticket scheduled for the very day my flight landed at Charles de Gaulle, and booked it right away — it was perfect!
And though my visit to Amsterdam was short, I made every moment count. One of the highlights was a magical canal cruise, where the city’s waterways sparkled under the beautiful Christmas lights. Wandered into charming bookstores, lingered at the Amsterdam Tulip Museum, and strolled along the city’s iconic canals, each corner more beautiful than the last. And of course, no trip would be complete without stopping by one of Amsterdam’s cozy coffee shops and soaking in atmosphere that makes the city so unique.

Le Petit Deli Café
Although I visited several cafés and coffee shops during my time in Amsterdam, Le Petit Deli Café was, without a doubt, my favorite find. Stumbling upon it while searching for breakfast in the city felt like discovering a hidden gem. Nestled in the heart of Amsterdam, this charming café offers a delightful selection of French-style cuisine while effortlessly embodying the elegance and ambiance of a Parisian café.
The menu features an array of beautifully presented options, from rich coffees and fragrant teas to flaky pastries and thoughtfully curated breakfast and lunch dishes. Beyond the food, what truly made my experience memorable was the exceptional service. The staff was warm and attentive, creating an atmosphere that felt both welcoming and intimate. My waiter, in particular, went above and beyond — continuously replenishing my passion fruit simply because I mentioned how much I loved its flavor alongside my French toast.
If you’re ever in search of a cozy yet stylish café that serves impeccable food and drinks in a setting that feels like a little slice of Paris in Amsterdam, Le Petit Deli Café is an absolute must-visit.

Accommodations
For my stay in Amsterdam, I booked TRIBE Amsterdam City, a fairly new boutique hotel that combines modern style with convenience. The location was ideal just steps from Amsterdam Central Station, making it incredibly easy to get settled right after arriving by train.
The rooms were spacious and bright, with large windows, plush bedding, and contemporary furnishings that felt both chic and comfortable. Their bathrooms were generously sized and well-stocked, perfect for a quick refresh after long days of exploring.
What really stood out were the amenities, particularly, the restaurant and bar serving casual bites, a 24/7 snack counter, a fully equipped gym, and a Social Hub designed as a flexible space to work, relax, or connect with other travelers.
As a first-time solo traveler in Amsterdam, I also felt incredibly safe throughout my stay. The staff was professional and discreet, and the hotel’s thoughtful security measures gave me peace of mind —allowing me to relax and fully enjoy my trip. TRIBE Amsterdam City is the perfect choice for travelers seeking comfort, security, and quality — whether you’re visiting solo or with company, it offers the right balance of style and functionality for any stay!
Overall, I had such a wonderful time in Amsterdam and would absolutely recommend it to anyone considering a visit. The city’s charm left me wanting more, and when I return, I know I’ll plan to spend even more time soaking it all in.
Bon Voyage! 🌍✈️
